Faith,

You haven't posted in a while, but I'm hoping that's because you're feeling so great you're out having fun instead of sitting around by your computer.

I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to Barry Lyga. You have definitely made me a fan. I read Fanboy and Goth Girl in one day (totally screwed up my writing schedule, but it was SO worth it) and I just finished Boy Toy this morning. His work is different from what I normally read (I'm in a bit of a YA fantasy rut) but it was so refreshing and eloquent. Even Boy Toy--which was dealing with a VERY uncomfortable subject--was just absolutely page turning. I couldn't put it down, even during the cringe-worthy sections.

So thank you again for the recommendation. Any other amazing writers I'm missing out on?

Glad the chemo is done and you are starting to feel somewhat normal again. I will be thinking of you throughout radiation. Take care of yourself.

I will be heading your way in October and would love to chat over coffee if you are up for it.

Faith ~ So glad you are feeling sorta human now, the whole radiation thing is awkward and sorta embarrassing as well, but it will go by faster than you think! Just make sure they are giving you something to put on your skin after you are radiated! Ask for something natural, or if you have a trusted place you go to for natural stuff, ask them. It definitely makes the skin better! I'll be thinking of you and praying you through this next phase! Your cancer sister ~

P.S.: Did you notice Publishers Weekly totally got the caption wrong on the pic of the Twilighters? That is so not Edward, Bella and Jacob. (I think they're the only people on the planet who don't know it's Jasper, Alice, and James). Too funny.

Hmmm. Maybe you should keep some sort of nonmetallic weapon with you for the next scan. You may need it to fight those aliens. :-)

That does sound awkward. Sorry you have to go through it. Be careful with those black marks, they wash off pretty easy (mine did anyway, when they put them on my knee to monitor my spreading bursitis. One steamy shower and they were gone...oops).

And thanks for the link to the article on Comic Con. That was all the stuff I missed (I only went Sunday) so it was cool to see it. It's too bad they didn't have any pics of Jon Lewis' booth. He had some really cool art from his upcoming project (and the Grey Griffins, of course).

Oh, and my Fan Boy and Goth Girl is due Monday. SOOO excited!

Anyway, get some rest and thanks for the post. Hope you have a nice weekend.

That whole process does sound quite awkward and uncomfortable!! I guess you can look at the bright side that the radiologist wasn't hot? Thanks so much for recommeneding Her Decade.... I have now ordered my copy of Fan Boy and Goth Girl since Barry is such an amazing writer. Since I have a nine month old the only time I ever really get to read is nap time so I take longer to finish a book then I would sometimes like. I hope radiology is overall a much more pleasant experience. Best wishes :)
